Ruang at Janda Baik, Pahang

If you like exploring new and different places like The Influenzas Team, you will like the Ruang at Janda Baik…  It is a different kind of homestay with a pretty unique set up that is sort of eco-industrial-shabby chic-eccentric, or in other words, pretty much one of its kind…

The Influenzas Team was over there recently and we loved this pretty cosy homestay is very much an open style villa surrounded by nature, you get a fishing pond or two at the front of the villa and a stream/ river at the back ..

Everyone had their favourite spot to take pictures….

Ruang, translated means space… and this is the space for people to bond or reconnect with each other, put away those gadgets as the signal here is terrible and they do not have WiFi anyway, with the purpose of well, enjoying your friend’s companionship, your family members attentions or well, get to know your colleagues better, if you are on a company trip… and calm your mind and soul…

So yes, you can indulge yourself in other activities like fishing – and yes, one of us caught a big tongsan fish, but we released it back shortly; listening to the old fashion radio which surprisingly works like a dream and well, indulging our inner vanity taking pictures of ourselves around the super insta-worthy area….

Then there is a TV are, a games area, a snooker table, a foosball table, and well… go and splash up a storm in the stream if you dare… we somehow chickened out a bit as the weather was somewhat cold when we were here…..

There are also man made swings you can sit on, and while moments away while listening to the water and day dreaming… ‘Laju-laju buaiku laju…. Aku nak kawin anak raja…..’ ehemmmm

The rooms were pretty cool.. we had the rooms on the first floor of the ‘villa’ –the Barn and also the Akira Korosawa and they were split storey level - 2 levels…

The Barn is huge and easily fit 4-5 people in…. there is a queen size mattress on the loft, up on the split level once you climbed the steps up and there are more steps leading to a door and a rooftop kinda garden beyond the doors.. pretty unique.. like I mentioned…

On the ground level of the room, there is yet another double bed… and there are spare mattresses…  a dressing table /changing room at the side and a bathroom /toilet… and yes, a small balcony you can go out…

On the other hand, Akira Korosawa , the room which I had to myself was pretty open…. Hahaha… I could stargaze from the open windows from my toilet/bathroom and bed…

There are no blinds or curtains for the ‘windows’ and it can be a bit unnerving when you are bathing in the nude.. wondering if there are monkeys or whatsoever peeking at you.. lol.. it probably can be a turn on for exhibitionists though… hahahaha

The Akira Korosawa is also a split storey level like the Barn, except that it is smaller… There is a queen size mattress on the split level.. and also steps to the rooftop garden…  but the bed on the ground floor is just enough for one person…

You can find clean towels in the bathroom, but do bring your own toiletries… anyway if you forget to bring yours, it is ok, there are shops just about a 5-minutes drive away…

No automatic alt text available.

The ladies and guys who know how to appreciate the finer things in life would like the mattresses on the split level area because it comes covered in mosquito netting.. it looks romantic and so cozy… but that’s not all.. I have to say I love the fresh laundered bedding etc as well… there is nothing worse then unclean bedding, which well, the team has encountered before… at some other homestays…

The wooden walls are made in such a way they allow free air flow and good ventilation... or in other words, natural air conditioning, since Janda Baik is kind of elevated at the hilly area and the air here is crisp, fresh and cool

There is a café/restaurant that opens only on weekends…

We had a simple barbecue there in the evening.. and enjoyed our meal before settling down for  long game of Saidina….

The next morning, we had some Nasi Lemak for breakfast which Zack, the manager of the place got for us…

Three of the team members got really brave after breakfast and headed to the stream to take some pictures as well as get wet…

And before we know it, it was time to leave, and we sadly packed our bags and left feeling kinda sad our little vacation was over… yet relieved to be getting home to everyday craziness and WiFi…huhuh
